Questions and Answers

Who is Concepts for Living (CFL)?

We are a professional “boutique” residential placement service for seniors, always doing our best to save you time and energy when searching for the best elder residence. With utmost compassion, the “gentle hands” of CFL take great pride in supporting your needs by finding the perfect match.

What does 'boutique' agency mean?

Our philosophy is unique in our industry. Unlike the norm, we do not appeal to the mass consumers, nor do we provide a generic list of the same places to everyone. At Concepts, quantity is not the goal. QUALITY is! That goal is to take what is special, different and important about each of the seniors entrusted to us and apply those needs and traits to finding the most suitable, ideal communities and homes, In other words, that goal is to create the perfect match.

What is Independent Retirement Living?

Many of our senior population are thankfully blessed with excellent health. It truly can be the Golden Years! While they could remain in their own homes, many seniors desire a more social environment, a community that offers a full activity program, day trips, shopping and interaction with a resident clientele that is similar to them. Often, they have outlived many who made up their world and need the support and camaraderie of peers.

What is Assisted Living?

Though somewhat different from the Independent Community, Assisted Living communities are DEFINITELY NOT NURSING HOMES! In the vast majority of situations, seniors do not need to ever be in a nursing home. Because we have all had our elderly ask “promise you’ll never put me in a nursing home”, there is a fear and negative connotation that no longer needs to exist. When assistance with the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is required, the assisted living community IS the answer. Often the issues of safety, isolation, bathing and dressing, walking escort need to be addressed: QUALITY OF LIFE, the comforts of life. Such communities offer comfort, compassion and excellence of care while promoting as much independence as possible. The caregivers personalize their services when addressing their needs. In many of the large communities, a “wellness” nurse (LVN or RN) oversees the program.

What does CFL offer their clients?

Peace of mind! We present communities that match our client’s individual needs, chosen from a vast database spanning Los Angeles and the surrounding regions. Unique to our program, CFL will, for a fee, accompany our clients as their personal liaison to the communities we present.

How does CFL choose the communities they recommend?

Not all homes are created equal! Not all homes are where you would want your loved one to be. Each Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE), licensed by the State of California – Department of Social Services, is personally visited and stringently evaluated by our staff in order to validate their integrity. We only accept the best!

What are CFL's qualifications?

CFL’s staff has been in health care for over 25 years, specifically serving seniors. Our liaisons include certified RCFE administrators, a former hospice professional and a registered nurse with a certification in geriatrics. We know what to look for when evaluating a RCFE, to ensure the safety and comfort of your loved one. Above all else, we are educators and clinicians, with access to the finest resources available in all areas of geriatric care.

What is the cost of using CFL's services?

Essentially, our services are free to our clients. CFL offers two levels of service. Level One offers a personalized consultation, establishing a profile unique to the client. The most appropriate selections are made accordingly and presented in a professional, concise and informative packet. We are available up to the move-in. There is no charge for this service and it is the one we provide the vast majority of the time. For complete case management, we offer our Level Two plan. This includes your own personal CFL care coordinator to accompany you to visit the recommended communities, as well as indefinite after-placement monitoring and assistance. For this extended and extensive care, there is a service fee.

How do you get paid?

If you or your loved-one move in to one of the communities we recommend, they pay us a one-time fee.

Do the communities charge extra to accommodate CFL's fee?

NO! It is simply to their benefit to work with a highly reputable referral agency that screens prospective residents for their homes. This helps alleviate some of their advertising budgets and activities so they can focus on providing top-notch care. If a community ever wants to charge you extra for working with us, we want you to tell us right away.

How can I trust you?

One of the best ways is to read the words of our former clients and professionals who have worked with us. We have a large selection of testimonials and thank you letters for you to look through. Also, feel free to visit our Facebook page and post questions, too. Many of our past clients and professional friends follow that page.
